While star Kevin Costner recently made headlines for agreeing to depart from the main series following the Season 5 finale, Yellowstone has been shared by the Dutton family and their time living and working at the Broken Rock Indian Reservation in Yellowstone National Park. Unlike 1883, 1923 is a multi-season prequel to Yellowstone that aims to show how far the extended Dutton family has come since fleeing Tennessee in the 19th century. Part of the series’ expansion involves Spencer Dutton’s (Brandon Scalesnar) venture into post-World War I Kenya, which serves as a refreshing break from the dusty Montana mountains.

Although enormous changes have been made in the way of life of the Duttons on the frontier since the days of 1883, 1923 should be seen after 1883 and before the five seasons of Yellowstone. The release date for 1923 Season 2 has not been given yet. Stream on Paramount+.

1944 (TBD)

In November 2023, another Yellowstone spin-off titled 1944 was announced by Paramount (via Variety). Although not yet released, the upcoming series written and produced by Taylor Sheridan will serve as a direct sequel to 1923 and take place in the nominal time frame of 1944. Thus, the Dutton family will deal with the resulting issues in the play. They continued to expand their farm in Yellowstone Park due to the horrors of World War II. According to The Ravile Republic, 1944 will be filmed in Bitterroot Valley, Montana.

Although there is no confirmed cast or release date for 1944 yet, TV Guide estimates the show will air in late 2024 at the earliest. The events depicted in the series will take place after the events seen in 1923. Without knowing when Season 2 of 1923 will premiere, there is no telling at this time when 1944 will be released by Paramount. Regardless, 1944 is still in the early stages of development and no cast has been announced yet. When the series is eventually released, it should be set after 1923 and before the main Yellowstone series.

Yellowstone (2018-2024)

Currently rated #162 on IMDb’s Top 250 TV Shows, Yellowstone has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy and Costner won a 2023 Golden Globe. The best way to watch Yellowstone would be from the beginning, as each season progresses in chronological order, starting in 2018 and eventually ending in 2024. It’s also worth noting that Costner has agreed to exit the series when it returns for Season 5, alongside Matthew McConaughey. Lined to star in the spin-off, 2024. Stream on Peacock Premium.

2024 & 6666 (2024)

Two more Yellowstone spin-offs have been announced, including 2024 and 6666. According to Variety, 2024 will be set in modern times and will track the contemporary lives of the Dutton family in the year 2024. Matthew McConaughey is in discussion to star in 2024. , replacing Kevin Costner’s excellent performance as the star-studded series lead.

No plot details or characters have been revealed at this time other than the story being set in the modern era and featuring a new cast of actors. When it finally premieres in 2024, audiences will see it take place immediately after the events depicted at the end of Yellowstone season 5.

Last but not least, another Yellowstone spin-off called 6666 has been in the works for a long time by Taylor Sheridan. Unlike the annual titles featured in the Yellowstone franchise, 6666 refers to the Four Sixes Ranch in West Texas where the story will take place. According to Entertainment Weekly, 6666 will be set in present-day Texas, “where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing a person does is the next thing they do.

” 6666 is expected to debut sometime in 2024, after being delayed to an initial 2023 release due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. When it finally airs on Paramount TV, 6666 should be seen after Yellowstone season 5 and as early as 2024.
